Kawakawa is a distinctive native shrub with heart‑shaped leaves and strong cultural significance. Traditionally, it has been used in Māori rongoā (medicine) for its anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and pain-relieving properties. Today, it is commonly found as an ingredient in teas and balms.
