Nursery Open Day
Te Roroa and Kaipara Moana Remediation (KMR) co-hosted a successful open day at Te Toa Whenua Nursery where more than 12,000 native plants were donated to support restoration efforts across the rohe.
Justine Daw, KMR Pou Tātaki, acknowledged the vital role of Te Toa Whenua in restoring the mauri of Kaipara Moana, “KMR is proud to support hapū and whānau-led action. Days like this remind us how community planting contributes to reducing sediment flowing into our waterways.”
This event is part of KMR’s wider kaitiakitanga planting initiative, which has seen trees distributed to marae, kura, and whānau throughout the catchment. In 2024, a third of the 39 marae in the Kaipara Moana region took part.
Te Toa Whenua and KMR continue to work in partnership, restoring whenua and building capacity for future generations through whenua-based solutions, mātauranga Māori, and community care.
